A hard, heavy European hardwood. Harder than hickory, so even a slim diameter puts out real volume. Germany's Rohema builds much of its range from it.
Halfway between a ball and a flat face. The tone shifts with your angle of attack, and on cymbals it balances definition against body. A genuine all-rounder.
Founded 1888 in Markneukirchen, Germany, and still family-run in the fifth generation. It also still makes conductors' batons, and is Europe's largest stickmaker.
