The lightest of the big three woods. A thick maple stick still feels light, which suits fast, intricate playing and quiet gigs. The trade-off is that it wears out sooner.
A little more contact area than a teardrop. Cymbal definition stays in check and the sound is fuller and more blended. Easy to live with, and the most common shape here.
